Soon To Be Alabama Bound

The Gadsden Museum of Art in Alabama will be presenting the 2009 Plein Air Invitational festival the last week of April. Since this is the area of Alabama where I grew up, I am honored to be included as one of the 10 featured artists from around the country participating in this event. This is their first plein air event and it sounds like the museum staff and volunteers have it well organized with selected painting venues and lots of accommodations for the artists needs.

It is a beautiful part of the state with rolling blue mountains, lush valleys with flowing rivers and pastures and not a palm tree in sight!  There is lovely old architecture and monuments around the city, all of which will make for a refreshing change of scenery and light for this painter. The museum plans to post the paintings daily on their site (link above) with an exhibition of the wet paintings at the museum to close out the week. I am looking forward to participating and I feel this will be great for the community and the Arts there.

Now I have to get out and hone my plein air skills since my Mom has already declared that this will give her "braggin' rights"... no pressure, though.

Sounds like a good trip, Greg. I can't wait to see the P.A. results. I'm sure you'll do your Mother proud! ....suddenly I'm reading your blog with a southern accent.
