The entire painting is suffused with warm, inviting tones, even the open door implies a "blush" of intimacy. You even managed to playfully create a bit of sexual tension with the title of the painting, "Stepping Out." It's a conundrum, isn't it? Is he actually stepping into his Jocky's so that he can "step out" for the evening? Or, as you enter the glow of that room, is he "stepping out" of them? Either way you look at it, a warm, wonderful evening is about to begin. Did I forget to say how much I liked this painting? I'll be humming Puccini all day!
